Happy holiday season everybody. I’m taking some time off, away from my computer, so these weekly newsletters are also taking a break. The two of us will be back in February. In the meantime, to find out what is happening, keep an eye on the club’s calendar and the Facebook group.

This week

  • Tuesday 5.45pm, Unofficial Xmas Waterfront 5KM, start outside Te Papa/Macs Bar. No Daryl, no timing, no sign-ups. A beer or two at Macs Bar to follow. Contact Ben for details.
  • Boxing Day long pack runs — usually, these leave 8.30am from outside Freyberg Pool and some alternative locations around Wellington. Contact our club captains for info, or check Facebook for details.

Lifestyle Night of Miles

Congratulations everyone – we raised $1446.40 for Mary Potter Hospice. It was a perfect summer, day, and a big turnout. There were lots of smiles, a Santa Claus who had fast-twitch issues sprinting against the kids but rediscuvered his mojo and charged around in the mile. There was a storming race between Ben Bielski and Oliver McLean, Sophie Dickson dipped under 6 minutes, and PBs to many – including Hiro Tanimoto and Ben Brunner.

Track and field season

Volunteers to help at Colgate Games

If anyone is available to help out with the Colgate Games at Newtown Park on Friday 7 January, Saturday 8 January and Sunday 9 January, or for any part of those days, could you please complete this registration form as soon as possible. Information about Colgate Games can be found on the Athletics NZ website. Just look for the heading Officials and Volunteers. Because of COVID-19, Wellington only received the all-clear to hold the games on 8 December and we are very short of people to assist us to stage this event.

So if you have some spare time and would like to see some of the best up-and-coming athletes in the country compete, complete the form and we will be in touch with you to let you know what task you have been allocated. We do provide food and drink for all our volunteers each day.
