Chania, Greece
Hamish Carson opened his European season yesterday with 3rd place in a 1500m in Chania, Greece. His time was 3.38.95. Julie Carson says he is looking for as many races as he can find but fewer available flights, more postponements and restricted entrant numbers as making competing tricky.
Three Peaks No 2.
58 runners and walkers set out to take on the hills around Karori on Sunday morning for the 2nd 3 Peaks event of 2021. The weather was wetter than forecast, leading to some fairly slippery trails. Today may have been one of those days where a road-heavy route was easier and faster. The first man home for Scottish was Andy Ford, and it was even between Ali Campbell, Sophie Dickson and trail-aficionado Lindsay Barwick for first Scottish woman. Incidentally, if anyone has some trail-running shoe recommendations, a few people today found their road shoes a bit lacking.
The next (and last for 2021) event is back at Anderson Park on 20 June.
Absurdity
Nicholas Bagnall, the king of self-challenges, celebrated his 52nd birthday by running 52 kilometres.
