A note from the Management Committee
The new committee
A new management committee was appointed at our AGM in March. There have already been some changes! Emma Bassett has taken on the vice president’s role. Anna Fifield has taken on the role of secretary. Chester Holt-Quick has resigned as a committee member and as vice president. That leaves the committee as Simon Keller (president), Emma Bassett (vice president), Floor Kaars Sijpesteijn (treasurer), Anna Fifield (secretary), Matt Adams, Lennox Crowe, Stephen Day, Kyle Malone, Dani Stevens, James Turner, and Isla Turner-Holmes.
The new committee is large and diverse and bursting with energy. Some of our priorities over the next year will be to recruit new members, improve our membership system, build a stronger sense of unity and community within the club, and increase our outreach to the wider runner community.
Introducing Jessie
We are also delighted to introduce Jessie McIntosh! Jessie has taken on a contracting role as club administrator. She has a background working in communications, marketing, and event planning, and presently works as event coordinator for the Cancer Society.
We were thrilled to find her and are delighted to have her in the role. Jessie will help organise club events, manage our social media accounts, and maintain our membership database – among many other things I’m sure.

Jessie says:
Kia ora WSAC whānau, I’m Jessie and I’m really excited to be supporting the club! You might spot my name in emails or working behind the scenes on our social media and other platforms. A little about me: you’ll usually find me running along Wellington’s coastline, checking out the city’s great coffee spots, or exploring new walks with friends. I’ve always loved being involved in sport and ran casually to support my training.
But have started to consistently run in the past year after recovering from ACL surgery (thanks, netball!) and I am excited to be completing my third half marathon in May. Hopefully I will get to meet you all and join you for a run sometime soon
Welcome Jessie!
And from the committee to everyone in the club: keep in touch, stay active, and let’s look forward to a rampant year.

Pink Ribbon Breakfast hosted by Scottish, May 9
A note from organiser Lindsay Young:
On Saturday 9 May, Scottish is hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast at Waitangi parkrun, alongside our monthly pacing event.
Each May, individuals, community groups, and workplaces around Aotearoa host Pink Ribbon events (usually breakfasts) to raise funds for breast cancer education, patient support, research, and advocacy.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in New Zealand wāhine: 1 in 10 will be diagnosed in their lifetime, and 3,700 are diagnosed every year – this includes some of our beloved rampant lions, and I’m sure some of our non-running whānau as well.
Led by a handful of the MW35s and 50s, this breakfast is a way to support an organisation and a cause that has touched some of our incredible wāhine toa.
At the breakfast we’ll have an array of treats at the finish line and ways for people to make a contribution to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
If you can, please join us on the 9th. Here are a few different ways you can show up:
1. Volunteer to help us bring the breakfast to life! We’re looking for vollies to help with organisation, logistics, promotion, baking, etc. Read more about what we need and sign up here.
2. Spread the word! Encourage your crew to join us on the day.
3. Make a donation if you are able. Every little bit counts, so even a small koha can go a long way to making a difference.
4. Wear pink! In addition to your Scottish gear, chuck on some pink, be it a cap, shorts, socks, or tutu – the choice is yours!
5. If you share any photos of the event, use the hashtag #PinkRibbonBreakfastNZ to add our content to the community.
Hope to see many of you there!
