2026 AGM and planning for the year
We have set the date for our Annual General Meeting. It will be on 9 March, at 5.30, at Wilton Bowling Club. More details and an agenda will be available beforehand. The bar will be open, the club will provide some snacks, and some of us will meet for a run beforehand. At the AGM, we will elect our next management committee. We would love to expand our committee, in terms of both numbers and demographics. You won’t want to miss it.
We want your running photos
Thanks to everyone who’s sent their photos. If you’re willing to have your running pics shared on our public-facing Facebook and Instagram pages, please send photos to us or upload them to this folder.

14 March: Centennial Cup and Peter Tearle Handicap Walk
MARCH FOCUS EVENT
This is a flat 5km club race along the south coast waterfront, starting at Island Bay at 2pm. This is the traditional opening race of the season, in which members compete for the Centennial Cup. It is a sealed handicap event where our handicapper has estimated your time over 5km to determine your handicap. Everyone starts together, and the finishing times are adjusted by your handicap to determine your net time and the overall winner of the Cup.
We meet beforehand at St Hilda’s Church, 311 The Parade, to store gear. The race starts at 2pm, so be ready to depart St Hilda’s by 1:50pm. Then we return afterwards for afternoon tea. Bring a plate, please. After afternoon tea we will continue on to local pub, Dub Hub for an optional race debrief and drink.
We need time keepers, marshalls and other volunteers. If you are not running maybe you can help with one of these simple tasks.
Note: the Tearle Trophy race walk held in conjunction with the Centennial Cup has been postponed to a later date, yet to be confirmed.
14 March: Tararua Mountain Race
A classic Wellington-region mountain trail running event. Expect steep climbs, technical singletrack, weather, and mountain conditions – then finish at Ōtaki Forks for the best kind of recovery: sausages on the barbie and an optional swim in the river. It’s a friendly, iconic race with a strong community vibe, and a great target for anyone in Wellington Scottish Athletics Club keen to build mountain confidence or tick off a local rite of passage.
Three options:
13km Field Dash out and back to Field Hut
24km Kelly Glass Kime Climb out and back to Kime Hut
36km Southern Crossing
More details here.
12 April: NZ Half Marathon Championships, Christchurch
The 2026 New Zealand Half-Marathon Championships will be held in conjunction with the Christchurch Marathon.
12 April: Porirua Grand Traverse
The Porirua Grand Traverse on 12 April 2026 is a vibrant festival of fitness with an event for everyone. With a 65km Multisport and 53km Duathlon, plus the stand-alone 10km Fun Run, 21km Mountain Run, MTB and 12km paddle events – there’s a place for you on the start line.
18 April: New Zealand and Wellington Mountain Running Champs
APRIL FOCUS EVENT
The NZ Mountain Running Championships are in Johnsonville, Wellington, set along the iconic Skyline Track over Mt Kaukau. 25-26 April: Faultline Ultra
This is an epic journey that weaves through the best trails from Kāpiti, the Hutt river trail, Belmont, Porirua, Karori and Wellington City. Distances include: the 100 Miler, 103km, 53km, 25km, 11km and 6km.
