14 March: Centennial Cup and Peter Tearle Handicap Walk
MARCH FOCUS EVENT
This is a flat 5km club race along the south coast waterfront, starting at Island Bay at 2pm. This is the traditional opening race of the season, in which members compete for the Centennial Cup. It is a sealed handicap event where our handicapper has estimated your time over 5km to determine your handicap. Everyone starts together, and the finishing times are adjusted by your handicap to determine your net time and the overall winner of the Cup.
We meet beforehand at St Hilda’s Church, 311 The Parade, to store gear. Then we return afterwards for afternoon tea. Bring a plate, please.
14 March: Tararua Mountain Race
A classic Wellington-region mountain trail running event. Expect steep climbs, technical singletrack, weather, and mountain conditions – then finish at Ōtaki Forks for the best kind of recovery: sausages on the barbie and an optional swim in the river. Three options:
13km Field Dash out and back to Field Hut
