Troya Marathon in Türkiye
Wellington has been invited to send two runners to the International Troya Marathon in Çanakkale on 26 April 2026 (Wellington is a sister city with Çanakkale). Wellington City Council asks if this might be of interest to runners from Scottish? The course, starting from the Troy Archaeological site and finishing at the symbolic “horse” point in the centre of Çanakkale offers participants an historical journey, as well as a culturally significant route for international runners. The Council is not in a position to fund or financially support runners to go to Türkiye but Çanakkale Municipality (the local council) has said it will cover the accommodation expenses for two nights for two athletes from Wellington. We don’t have a great deal more information that than, but if there was interest from anyone, Wellington Council is keen to connect them directly to the International Relations team in Çanakkale Municipality.
