Once adjusted for legitimate handicaps, the joint winners of the Bernie Portenski Memorial Trophy were Terry Kurukanga (Olympic) and Marianne Elliott (Scottish). Marianne also won the Ladies Open Handicap Cup for first Scottish female, and Todd Stevens won the Baudinet Cup for the first Scottish male.

Welcome to new club member Murendeni Netshituka:

“Full name’s Murendeni Netshituka, friends and fam call me “Murenz” for short. I’m a 27 year old from the South African concrete jungle that is Johannesburg.
I started taking running seriously as of April 2021 after joining the Zoo Lake training group coached by Hendrick Ramaala (2004 New York Marathon winner).
Outside of running I’m a Data Analyst with a background in Finance. I’ve been described by friends and fam as a social butterfly so please feel free to reach out, I’m always open to trying out new things!
I love spending my quality time having a weekend braai (barbecue) watching replays of the 2023 Rugby World Cup final snacking on popcorn.
My running goal is to break 2:20 in the marathon (maybe get close to 2:10 – who knows) and to make some lifelong friends during my time in Wellington.“
Happy Birthday Bob Stephens
80 today!

This year, packs and pacers will be running at many different speeds to drag you to your new PB.
We are looking for pacers: 32 min, 35 min, 37.30 min, 40 min, 45 min 50 min and pother requested paces. If you can help please let us know.
Lifestyle Sports Night of Miles, 14 December
This unique event is full of Christmas fun and features races over the rarely run distance of one mile. Each year, we collect donations from athletes and spectators and hand them on to a local Wellington charity. For the competitive events in the programme where pre-entry is required, we have set a $10 entry fee that will be part of the donations.
The programme includes a mix of children’s, senior and fun social events. There are several different mile races, including elite men’s and women’s races and an all-comers mile that anyone can participate in (including Father Christmas). Subject to interest, some field events may be added to the programme.
