WAI2K Aid Station Crew Unite!

November 22nd, Station Dr, Remutaka Hill

Last year’s crew did such an incredible job that the race management team have welcomed us and our lion costume back for 2025! If you’d like to crew at the Scottish Aid Station tent at this year’s The WAI2K – WAI Running Festival, read on 👇🏼

For those new to the trail running aid station experience, expect: providing food and drink to racers (50k and 100k events), superb vibes, and a great bunch of people.

Do you have a club trophy? We need them back

If you have a Scottish or interclub trophy, we would like it returned so it can be engraved and then presented to this year’s winner at the club prizegiving on 25 January. There will be a box in the call room at Newtown Park for the 10,000m this coming Saturday – leave your trophy in there. Or contact Todd (toddstevens6@gmail.com) to make arrangements for collection.

Do you want to learn to be a race official?

Athletics NZ is running an entry level officiating course at Newtown Park on 23 November from 10am to 3pm. Register here. Questions? Email sheelagh@athletics.org.nz

We want your running photos

Thanks to everyone who’s sent their photos. If you’re willing to have your running pics shared on our public-facing Facebook and Instagram pages, please send them to us or upload them into this folder.

Coming up

Saturday, 15 November: Te Ahumairangi 10000

Please get your entries in by 7:00pm on Wednesday, 12 November

Enter the 10000 here

Volunteers still needed for the following roles:

  • Finish Line — handing out our finishing tokens and helping the officials. Managing the clock (which you will get training on)
  • Lap Counter Coordinator – explain to the lap counters what they need to do, helping them set up, handing out their pens and papers and answering questions they may have. (training provided)
  • Scottish Relay Team Manager – making sure the 25 runners are ready and lined up to run their lap in the right order.
  • Lap Counters – it is a pretty easy time. You sit in a chair and write down the time every time one of your assigned runners runs past to make sure they do all 25 laps—no experience required.

Contact Stephen if you can help.

If you are not running or volunteering, please consider coming along to cheer and support your clubmates. Indo Plus will be serving yummy food, and it is possible that one or two of the spot prizes might go to great supporters in the crowd.

I suggest we gather afterwards at the Office (pub), in Newtown, to celebrate PBs and successes.

22 November: Wai2K and NZ Long Course Trail Champs

The organisers promise an unforgettable journey through stunning landscapes and challenging terrains, across four distances (not counting the vert, so much vert): The 12Km Scenic Flight, the 25K Quad Extender, and two Ultras: 50K and 100K. The 100km doubles as the New Zealand Long Course Trail Championships course.

Everything you need to know here.

5 December: The Spectacle, Nelson

A road and trail extravaganza, ranging from a one mile race to 100 miles.

Find out more here.

13 December: Group Trail Run with Dan Jones and Adidas

Adidas Terrex and Scottish are teaming up to host a “Meet Dan Jones” friendly trail run on 13 December at Newtown Park. Turn up at 8:30 am to try some of Adidas’ new Terrex gear and shoes, then a short, gentle run with Dan around some local trails and back for some food and drink, and a Q&A with Dan about his recent global racing experiences.

There are more details to come, but people should block this into their calendar — a great opportunity to invite any trail running friends along who might be wondering if Wellington Scottish is right for them.

8-11 Jan 2026, from the WTMC lodge at Whakapapa. Expect good runs, good chats, good food, and great entertainment. The cost will be $200 for the full 3 nights, and spaces are limited to 30 people.
