World Mountain and Trail Running Champs
A huge CONGRATS to the four Wellington Scottish members who represented Aotearoa New Zealand at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships at the weekend – you did us so proud over an incredibly gruelling course.
In the “short trail” event, covering 45km with 3,650m of climbing and descending, Jackson Cole was first Kiwi home finishing in 26th. After getting caught in the starting traffic jam and suffering a series of mishaps, David Haunschmidt still put in an impressive effort and finished in 92nd place. David’s full write-up here.
In the “long trail,” which had 82km of running and 5,410m of ups and downs, Mel Brandon came storming home in 87th. Unfortunately Richelle McKenzie just missed the cut-off (a sign of how brutal the course was) after a heroic effort across 60+km.
We’re so incredibly impressed with all of you. Go Lions!
