Wellington Scottish is managed entirely by volunteers. Everything service that the club provides, whether it is coaching, race organisation, marshalling, organising uniforms or organising the tea after a club run, is all done by a volunteer.
We're a big club, with around 300 members, and so with a bit of help from everyone we can achieve a lot. We expect all our members to pitch in and do something, and in fact we depend entirely on the commitment of our members to do that, in order to keep our club activities going.
You can contribute in a wide range of ways, with jobs that suit everyone's skillset. Good with people? You can help with social activities and club communications. Good with details? We need event organisers. Good with numbers? You can help with race results, or handicapping. Good with strategy? Our management committee would love to have your input.
Here's the reasons some of our volunteers have given
"I get to learn new skills"
"I gain a lot from the club and like to give something back"
"I feel as though I can make a difference"
"I like helping people achieve their goals"
"I like to improve how things are done"
How can I help?
Here's a list of volunteer roles that keep our club going. Some have job descriptions that you can click through to see. If you'd like to help you can contact Don Stevens, our volunteer coordinator, or speak to any member of the management committee.
