Wellington Mountain Run Championship, Wainuiomata, 30 April

Stellar showing by Scottish members winning golds and bronzes in four grades

Scottish members placed well in the regional mountain run champs.  In the men's events over a 10.5k course, Scottish picked up gold and bronze in three grades. In the Senior Men, Dougal Thorburn was the winner and Niam Macdonald took the third spot. Stephen Day won gold in the MM40s, while Karl Woodhead took the bronze possie, showing his class ahead of the tip track race later in the year. In the MM50s, Peter Stevens won gold and James Turner bronze.  Others in the senior grade were Andrew Thompson (8th), Dan Hunt (10th, unclubbed this year), Alasdair Saunders (11th), Jonathan Justice (12th), Geoff Ferry (14th) and Scott Ryland (15th).  In the MW40s, Jackie Mexted and Jo Badham, over a 9k course, repeated the gold and bronze performance seen with the men.  In the 6.5k Junior Men's race, Jonathan Beresford was 5th.

These performance gave Scottish men a first in the teams event (King Club of the Mountain) and the women a third in the Queen Club of the Mountain event.
