It was a beautiful sunny day in Eastbourne on Saturday to mark the first official winter Saturday of the season. 41 runners competed over the 4.9km open handicap for the Novice Cup, awarded to the first runner (who had yet to win a club trophy) home on handicap and the Galashiels Shield, named after the home town in the boarders of Scotland of our founding father Walter Ballantyne
Megan Willis was first home in handicap winning the shield, followed home by John Stewart in his first run with the club,
and Carla O’Donnell who was the winner of the Novice cup.
Fastest time went to Harry Burnard in 17.40. He edged out Andy Ford by a mere 10 seconds, whilst Jess Kikstra in 19.40 was the fastest of the women.
The J Team trialed a new course, with Scarlett Anderson winning the girls' trophy. With some confusion over the course in the boys' event, it was decided that we will rerun the event in conjunction with the Ballantyne Cup in a fortnight. Details from Jonathon Harper are linked below.
A big thanks to the time keepers, recorders and marshalls that helped run this event
