CLUB AWAY TRIP Taupo 1-3 July 2015
With the Cross Country season in full swing, it’s time to start thinking about North Island XCC, and the club's annual away trip to Taupo.
This is a fun weekend away, and a good chance to catch up with club mates (both old and new). The races themselves are good for all levels of ability - although it is the North Island XC, there are no qualification requirements and a wide variety of abilities!! There are normally about 40-50 club members who come along.
Travel - we head up to Taupo on Friday 1st July (arrange your own transport but most people car pool) and stay Friday and Saturday nights at the newly renovated Gables Motor Lodge, driving back on Sunday.
Running - the races are on Saturday 2nd July starting from 9:45am and going through to about 3pm. Distances vary from 1k for under 10s, up to 9k for senior men. Firm ground underfoot. Then there is normally a long run past Huka Falls on Sunday morning.
The Social Stuff - most people get together in groups for dinner out in Taupo on Friday night. On Saturday night we will book a restarurant for a group dinner. (details TBC)
Cost - the club collects approx $110 to be confirmed ($55 per person/night) for accommodation (this price will depend on configuration of rooms & will be confirmed once numbers are confirmed) and $7-$25 for racing (we will arrange your entry). You pay for your own transport, food, etc.

If you are keen to come along please email me on email@example.com - ASAP. Once
numbers are confirmed I can confirm the amount to be paid to the Club
for your accommodation & race entry fee.
The NIXCC champs, now an OPEN event, have been organised and presented by Taupo Harrier Club Inc since 1977. However, documented, detailed results for all of this long period are not available. The NIXCC is a sanctioned Athletics Waikato Bay of Plenty (AWBoP) event, normally run on the first weekend in July and on the same course – the advantage of having the event in a public park and hence safe from developers. Races cover all age groups from school kids to the 70 year old masters – medals presented in 5 year age groups.
