Scottish singlets were everywhere in Christchurch yesterday - many of them being carried to lifetime bests by their wearers.
In the full marathon Dougal Thorburn was 2nd 2.30 and Bert Prendergast a phenomenal 2.31 PB for 3rd! Ben Twyman 4th in 2.37. Then Andrew Wharton 7th in 2.39 and Alasdair Saunders 8th in 2.40, and Matt Bonner 12th in 2.47 All PBs. Six in the top twelve! Tim Judge ran 3.04 and Dion Gamperle ran a very impressive 3.18 in his debut marathon.
James Turner reports a series of fantastic PBs and results in the half marathon: by Andrew Kerr (1.22), Dan Jones (1.06, 3rd overall), Lindsay Barwick (1.23, 1st W40), Iain Shaw (1.29), Kate Slater (1.29) and Naomi Christensen (1.42). Nick Horspool did a fantastic 1.08 for 5th overall despite it being the end of the 190km week. Paul Barwick did a solid 1.17 for 2nd M40 and 2nd vet overall. Peter Murmu (1.39), Ben Cornelius (1.29), Liam Harker (1.33), Hiro Tanimoto (1.09), Mark Moore (1.16), and Carla Dennehy (1:32) also all performing well. James himself was first M50 in 1.21.
Makare Hurst ran 1.07 in the 10km and Lucy and Audrey Thorburn competed in the 3km and 2km kids races respectively.
