Lifestyle Sports Waterfront 5k Series – 24 January 2012

125 keen runners and walkers fronting for the 3rd Lifestyle Sports Waterfront 5k for 2012. Many are no doubt using the weekly 5k races to build up for Round the Bays on 26 Feb.

A lot of good times were recorded, reflecting favourable weather conditions and indicating a disciplined approach to training over the holiday period. Leading everyone home was Grant McLean with a sharp time of 15min 57sec (1sec faster than his winning time from two weeks ago), with Levente Timar 13sec behind in 2nd. Stephanie Mackenzie won the women’s race with a time of 18min 15sec, 30sec ahead of Melissa Moon (who is off to New York next week to race up the Empire State Building!). Terri Grimmett (31min 52sec) recorded another good win in the walking race.

Thanks to our usual sponsors – in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes. And a big thanks to the team of volunteer helpers from the Scottish Men’s A team: Stefan, Josh, Jesse, Cory and Ben; and to Andrena for making sure everyone turned at the right place.
